Installation
- Download the Zip archive on this page
- Unzip it and upload the files your web server, ideally in their own directory
- Open your web browser and go to
http://your_domain/askpeople_directory/install.php - Follow the setup instructions, choosing a name for your installation, and setting yourself up as the master user
At the end of the installation process, you will be taken to the login screen for your installation of the AskPeople application, from where you can login using the master username you have just created.
If you encounter problems, please check the forum or contact us using the Feedback Form and we'll do what we can to help.
Upgrading to the latest version
If you want to upgrade from any version of AskPeople to 2.2, you should make a copy (or keep safe somewhere):
- your /surveys/ directory
- any customised templates you have in /templates/
- your users.inc.php file
Then delete the rest of your installation, and replace with the new files. You should then restore your original surveys, templates and users file.
If you copy across project files created under an older version of AskPeople, make sure you update the settings for each project. Just go to 'Manage project settings' from the Project Manager and save changes.
Technical requirements
AskPeople does not require a database, as it stores its data and survey files as flat text files. However, at the minimum your server will need to be running:
- PHP version or 4 or 5
- some server-based email utility such as sendmail, in order to use the email functions built into AskPeople
Version history
AskPeople is based on Pentri Clipboard, of which there were five minor revisions, the most recent being Clipboard 1.4 in August 2006. This version of AskPeople supersedes all previous versions Clipboard.
